Your First Appointment

Your doctor has recommended Physical Therapy and there are a few things you should know prior to your appointment.

Please be sure that you have an up-to-date referral from your doctor or have confirmed your doctor has sent it to Gilford Physical Therapy & Spine Center prior to your arrival. This is necessary for us to perform the initial visit.

Although we try to assist you in determining your coverage with your insurance plan, it is always wise to call your insurance company yourself prior to your visit to determine what coverage you have for Physical Therapy.

If you are covered by a managed care plan, it is important you check with your primary care physician to make sure that they have sent us a managed care referral. This is sometimes separate from the physician’s referral and it is always wise to have both in place.

Please arrive 15 minutes ahead of your scheduled appointment to allow time for your to fill out the intake paperwork.

Wear loose, comfortable clothing that will allow your injured body part to be exposed and evaluated by your therapist. Please bring a pair of shoes that you do not normally wear outside or slippers that you can change into prior to entering your gym.

Please plan on spending 1 to 1 1/2 hours on your first appointment. This allows the therapist to spend time evaluating you and establishing a treatment plan that will allow you to attain your goals.

If your insurance has a co-pay for physical therapy, it is due at the time of your initial visit and all subsequent visits. We except cash or checks but  do not accept any type of credit or debit card.

If you have any questions prior to your visit, please call us and we will be happy to assist you.

We look forward to seeing you.
